Police issue crime alert for St. Anthony East; Seward garage-sale weekend

The Minneapolis Police Department has issued a crime alert for the St. Anthony East neighborhood in Northeast after a rash of personal robberies in the area.

Three incidents have occurred in the last several days. On May 10 at approximately 9:45 p.m., a woman was assaulted by suspects in the park at Jefferson Avenue and Spring Street NE, and her wallet was taken.On May 14 at 3:45 p.m., suspects assaulted a woman on the 400 block of Fifth Street NE and took her purse. On May 15 about 8 p.m., suspects on bikes assaulted an elderly man at Fourth Street and Sixth Avenue NE and took his wallet.

Police have only limited suspect descriptions at this point and the information is inconsistent. In two of the incidents, two suspects were involved, but in the third incident there were more than two.
