Drawing article deserves another look
The Bridge article “Look Closely” should be reproduced and widely distributed.
The messages are many. For example, parents should be aware of the fact that there is much they can learn from their children. A child’s sense of wonder is a priceless reminder to stop and think about the consequences of what we do and how our actions influence others.
Old school art programs or lack of instruction had children trying to draw within the lines. The result of that was no opportunity to really learn to think, to reason, to analyze, to turn thoughts over in one’s mind.
My line drawings evolved from the very kind of observational methods described in Ms. Smith’s article.
