Gather at Como community gardens, July 16, 19 and 20
Join Southeast Como gardeners and neighbors this Saturday and Sunday (and every couple weeks this summer) as they gather to help tend, at one of three area community gardens to tend, learn, swap plants and socialize about “recent happenings in the neighborhood,” said Steph Hankerson, community garden organizer for the Southeast Como Improvement Association (SECIA).
The next open garden gatherings are coming soon: the Gateway Community Garden, on the Southwest corner of East Hennepin and 12th Avenue Southeast, is open tonight, Wednesday, July 16, 6:30 p.m.–sundown.
On Saturday, July 19, the Accord Community Garden, on the Southwest corner of Como and and 15th avenues Southeast, will be open 10 a.m.–noon.
The following day, Sunday, July 20, the OWLS Community Garden, behind 895 Weeks Ave SE, will be open 10 a.m.–noon. (Some folks come at 9 a.m., according to the calendar on SECIA’s website, where you can find other upcoming open garden dates.
Garden stewards and neighbors come out for the informal gatherings during the first and third weeks of the month, said Hankerson.
